ST. MARY'S CONVENT & NURSING HOME |

I've just spent a week with Sr Jennifer and Liz in Norfolk. It was amazing. Liz took me for a walk along the beach every morning - which was wonderful. All that space! I could run around to my heart's content. I was a little unsure about all the waves crashing onto the beach, so I wasn't brave enough to go for a swim in the sea. Considering what the salt water would do to my coat, I think Liz was a little relieved I was such a chicken.
We went out for long walks most days and I helped around the garden with the weeding, planting and building a new shed. A few pictures are below. Hello! My name is Ted and I have just arrived at the Convent, and after two weeks trial I have been officially adopted. I am thrilled to be here, and I'm busy exploring my new home and getting to know, what is now, a very large family. I am an Australian Labradoodle, and I spent my first three years with a family of three in York. Sadly I could no longer remain with them, so was put up for adoption. Thankfully Sister Jennifer and Liz found me on Doodle Rescue and drove up to York to pick me up.
I know how much Trudi and Bartie were loved - so I have big paws to fill! As yet Elia and I have not quite managed a modus operandi - I think I might be a bit bouncy for her. Still, I hope we will get along OK in the coming weeks and months. I will try and be a bit quieter, I'm just a little over excited right now. Today I've gone out with Jane W and John with some residents to the Park, so expect some photos soon. Tragically we had to say goodbye to Trudi on Monday 27th March. She was 14 and a half, a very good age for Labradors. Sadly her infirmities caught up with her, and she died peacefully surrounded by her friends.
She is much missed by our close community at St Mary's and her wider friends in the dog walking community of Chiswick. RIP darling Trudi, I'm sure Bartie is very pleased to see you. It is with great sadness that Trudi and Elia have to report of the untimely demise of their great friend and companion, Bartie. Our dear Bartie had been unwell for several weeks and sadly the vet found, during an operation, that he had cancer and that it had spread, so the decision was made not to revive him. We are all devastated. Rest in peace darling Bartie. You gave us so much love and pleasure in your life, We miss you dreadfully.
We had a super Christmas day in the convent. Thank you all for your cards and good wishes - and all the various treats we've been munching our way through. Staff working over Christmas were fantastic in ensuring every had a good time. Thank you all. |
